Why We Built This Site
New York does not place every criminal record in one public system. Montgomery County Corrections answers current county-custody questions. Police agencies keep the reports they create. Court clerks preserve charges, docket events, dispositions, and sentences, while DCJS maintains the fingerprint-supported statewide repository and limits Personal Record Review to the subject or an authorized attorney. DOCCS and the state registry add separate custody and public-safety channels. We organize the official contacts, request steps, access limits, and current fee details needed to approach the correct custodian.
What You Will Find Here
- Local record guidance: ways to search and read criminal court case files in Montgomery County
- Official self-review steps: how fingerprint-based Personal Record Review works through DCJS
- Custodian contacts: how to reach the Sheriff, Corrections, court clerks, and New York systems
- Record-sealing information: the court route for New York sealing and Clean Slate records
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, with no connection to a New York court, police agency, sheriff's office, or state department. Those boundaries mean:
- We do not retrieve criminal records or perform an official check
- We do not submit FOIL requests, sealing papers, or other forms for visitors
- We cannot certify a court paper, rap sheet, police report, or booking record
- We do not offer legal advice about a charge, warrant, sealing request, or pending case
- We cannot promise that an agency has not changed a fee, address, phone number, or schedule
An official copy must come from its custodian, such as the Montgomery County Sheriff, the filing court, or DCJS. We can identify the route, but cannot issue the record.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes shown on some pages. They operate their own products, choose their prices, and control the results they return. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee for us, which helps fund free access to this resource. We do not set a partner's charges or control its records.
